Winter - Dr. June G. Winter (nee Martin) formerly of St. John's, Newfoundland, passed peacefully away at her home in Calgary on Monday, March 2, 1998, at the age of 53 years, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Keith; devoted mother of Christopher and Martin; beloved daughter of Vera and the late Rex Martin, and daughter-in-law of Phyllis Winter and the late Gerald M. Winter, all of St. John's, Newfoundland. Sister of Florence (David White), Trinity, NF and Rex (Heather), Ottawa; sister-in-law of John and Barbara Winter, Vancouver, B.C., and Stephen and Eleanor Winter, St. John's, NF. Beloved aunt of seven nephews and four nieces. Born in St. John's, NF, June attended Bishop Spencer College and Bishop's College. She obtained Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from University College, University of London. She was a respected university researcher and teacher (Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of Calgary). A Memorial Service in celebration of her life was held at St. Thomas' Church on March 9, 1998.
