|Dear Associate Members of the Bishop Spencer College Alumnae Association:|
Thank you for your interest in the Association, in the school, and in Spencer 2000 – the Reunion. A number of you have said that you'd like to be part of the Spencer family, so – WELCOME.
Obviously, most of the members of the Association are women. But a number of men attended Kindergarten, Grade I, and Commercial and our constitution provides for associate membership for these former students.
Initially, we sent issues of the Spencer Letter only to full members, but these issues can be downloaded from our Web page (see below) as can the constitution, history of the school, etc.
This letter is going to a small group of associate members. When you get this Letter, please make two or more photocopies and send them to other males who were in your class. Remember your fathers, uncles, brothers, sons, nephews, cousins,.....
The original Spencer Letter was sent out two and a half years ago to 60 former students with a request to send on two or more photocopies. We now have 1600 names on the list with 900 good addresses – the system worked! Class List Class List Index
AND: Is there any associate member out there who'd like to organize a special event for those former students during the Reunion. Call me at 709-722-4546.
We are planning SPENCER 2000 – the Reunion for July 26 - 30, 2000. There will be a number of events including a sports day, a "speech" night (with skits and so on), a dinner, tours, and get-togethers. The registration forms will be sent out with an upcoming Spencer Letter, but we look forward to hearing from you before that. Please send (to the above address) your name, complete postal address, e-mail address, and phone numbers along with $5.00 (the fee for associate membership); indicate the grade(s) you attended at Spencer and the years(s). This fee will insure that you get future mailings of the Spencer Letter and information about the Reunion.
Re accommodation: as everyone has already lived in St. John's we are relying on each of you to make your own reservations. We are including in this issue a flyer (made up by me from info. supplied by the City Tourist Bureau) indicating lists of hotels and B & B's. A map is also included. This info goes to all Spencerians living off the Avalon Peninsula. We hope to be able to rent space in Bishop Field School to use as our HQ and for some events; if not we will seek other space in the centre or downtown.
Thanks again for your interest, we're looking forward to seeing some of you in July 2000.
